Default Luopan goes haywire

I have heard incidents that the Luopan goes haywire when it comes into contact with 'ghosts' / very yin area.

The compass needle will go crazy and turns in circles.

I was thinking that this may be due to strong magnetic fields. And areas with strong magnetic fields are not good for our health, thus people says it's not good.

What's your view?
